Many pets across the country are in crisis. They’re being taken from their homes and given up to animal shelters or abandoned because their owners can no longer afford to keep them. Many children and a slew of celebrities — including Twilight’s Kellan Lutz and One Tree Hill’s Sophia Bush — are helping get the word out about these animals in the new special Nick News with Linda Ellerbee: Kids to the Rescue! Helping Homeless Animals, airing Dec. 27 at 8 p.m. ET on Nickelodeon.

Lutz and Bush are the proud owners of rescue pets and many more celebrities, including Lance Bass, reporter Maria Menounos, skateboarder Tony Hawk, talk about how their pets have changed their lives forever. The kids featured in the special are superstars in their own right: like two named Rachael and Sophia, who are volunteering their time to help homeless animals on death row find fosters homes.

Sophia Bush directed November 9th’s episode of “One Tree Hill,” which coupled with “Gossip Girl” to score the network’s most watched Monday of the season!

“One Tree Hill” climbed this week to hit a new season high in total viewers (2.67mil).

After seven years playing fashionista Brooke Davis on the locally filmed TV series “One Tree Hill,” Sophia Bush has become a fixture in the Wilmington area. She can often be spotted hanging with friends in downtown restaurants and clubs, or putting her celebrity to good use at area fundraisers.

“I think people have lost sight of how important it is to give back,” Bush said recently at a fundraiser for the Wilmington Police Recreation Association Officer Down Memorial Wall.

Bush, 27, said her parents always encouraged charity work when she was growing up, and she wants to pass that encouragement on to other young people.

Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series books (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn) aren’t her only best-sellers – as you well know. Her book, The Host, also claimed top marks on the charts (and for good reason).

The Host follows the ninth life of “Wanderer,” a “soul,” who makes her way to Earth for the first time as a human being. Her host body, though, becomes a strange thing for Wanderer because the human soul of Melanie, the body, refuses to disappear and make way for her own cognitive control.

Wanderer and Melanie form an indescribable (though thoroughly described by Stephenie Meyer, of course) bond through this experience, and Wanderer seeks out those who Melanie (and vicariously Wanderer) loves. Her experience amongst those individuals – particularly the characters Jared, Jamie, Ian, and Jeb – is the crux of the story, and Wanderer’s challenge is to keep Melanie “alive” during her incorporation into the group.

Looks like life is imitating art for One Tree Hill costars Sophia Bush and Austin Nichols!

The onscreen couple looked like a real-life twosome as they stepped out at the Hollywood Style Awards last night.

Sophia, who was presenting an award to Max Azria, hit the carpet solo, but she stayed close to Austin inside and was overheard mentioning her “boyfriend” to partygoers.
